Asana vs. ClickUp

Asana keeps your team organized and connected. It’s a stylish and elegant project management platform that provides your team flexibility in working toward achieving a common goal. So you and your team can perform tasks and finish projects with ease and speed — and most importantly — on time.

ClickUp organizes your work — projects, tasks, documents, communications, or goals — in one place. It features process management, task management, time management, complete customization, team collaboration, integrations, apps and devices, and reporting.

Managing processes, tasks, and time

Asana lets you customize the structure of the way you work and organize all the task-related tools you need. This is to keep you on track of your plans, projects, tasks, priorities, and deadlines. All the tools it provides help you reach your organizational goals. You can map plans, strategize steps to take, identify risks, and remove threats.

Asana helps develop a culture of collaboration where you can work with your team more efficiently. Processes are streamlined to improve performance and enhance productivity. As a result, it saves your business costs and time. Your marketing and sales teams, for example, can work together to plan, launch, and monitor campaigns to close more deals. Teams can take advantage of the simplified tools to create custom processes, manage projects, schedule activities, track time — and they have the flexibility to work both in the office and remotely from home.

ClickUp helps streamline your projects and simplify the steps to complete the tasks. You can customize your workflow with statuses to fit the project. There are a lot of preselected statuses to choose from and even checklist templates that are ready to use. If the work requires more than one person, you can assign a task to several people on the team. ClickUp’s process management feature offers more tools such as templates, sprints, people sidebar, scrum points, workload chart, and reminders.

With ClickUp, you can organize your tasks more efficiently and quickly. You can make changes and shuffle tasks, but it’s still easy for your team to adjust. You can use customizable templates for your to-do lists and tasks where you can drag and drop elements. ClickUp also makes time management easy.  It features 2-way calendar sync, time, time tracking, due dates, scheduling, and other tools to keep your team on track and hit deadlines.

Customization and automation

With your business processes automated and the workflow simplified, Asana does the  tedious manual work, so you can focus on the more important tasks that require immediate attention. Asana’s automation tool, Rules, saves you time and the costs associated with human errors. You can customize Rules to put everyone on your team on track, reduce bottlenecks, and streamline processes with custom templates.

ClickUp allows you to customize your digital workspace to fit your style: privacy, features, workflows, tags, statuses, fields, spreadsheets, notification, color themes, and even dark mode. It also offers a custom automation builder that you can use to automate your entire workflow. ClickUp adapts to your — and your team’s — working style.

Collaboration and integrations

Asana’s collaboration tools are not only easy to use, but you can also customize and integrate them with other productivity tools. Asana allows you to connect to other platforms you’re already using such as Slack, Microsoft Office 365, Google Suite, Outlook, Power BI, and Salesforce. It also offers a Zapier integration that lets you access more apps.

ClickUp offers cohesive tools to shore up team collaboration. So you can let your team stay on the same page when generating reports — make comments or edit in real-time. Everyone has full visibility. You can integrate ClickUp with Slack, GitHub, GitLab, Everhour, Toggl, Harvest, Google Drive, Dropbox, Google Calendar, Figma, Timeneye, Zoom, and Outlook.

ClickUp is accessible on browsers (Firefox, Safari, or Chrome) and on any device and operating system. And, like Asana, ClickUp also has Zapier integrations to give you access to 1,000+ apps and tools.

Conclusion: Asana or ClickUp?

As to which software option is the best, I’m inclined to choose Asana for its elegant style, but ClickUp offers an equally excellent UI/UX. Both platforms provide not only the ad hoc functionalities you need but also other tools that help simplify work.

So, it seems like a tie. Again, it all boils down to your business requirements. And if you haven’t decided on a project management software yet, our Project Management Software Guide will be of help.
