Features comparison

Wrike and Zoho Projects have many unique project management features. However, both solutions have task management, time tracking, and reporting features.

Task management

Handle all your tasks in one place with Wrike’s task management feature. Wrike keeps your personal to-do list, takes note of your ideas, and manages your team’s tasks as a whole. Users can add tasks and assign them to members, set task schedules, attach files and documents, add task details, and track work progress in Wrike. Automatic notifications and due date reminders are also sent by the system whenever a task is assigned to keep track of task deadlines.

Just as with Wrike, Zoho Projects also has a task management feature wherein you can assign tasks. However, tasks in Zoho may be broken into subtasks and grouped into lists. Description and priority level can be set for each task. Additionally, work hours may be set for each of the tasks — giving you the chance to allocate how many hours you want a team member to work on a task. Reminders will be sent to the task owner if the task is almost due. Zoho Projects also lets you set up recurring tasks.

Time tracking

Wrike allows users to add a timelog entry manually or use Wrike’s task timer to keep track of hours worked by a user. This time tracker feature continues running even if you close your browser window. Keep in mind the time tracker lets you track time for just one task. If the task timer is already tracking time for a task, and you try to begin tracking time for a new task, the system automatically pauses on the current task and begins on the new task.

Zoho’s time tracking feature makes use of a timesheet. Each user’s hours worked are logged in the timesheet. Users can opt to use the timers or choose to manually log in the hours worked. If you choose to use the timer, the time spent working is automatically added to the timesheet once the task is complete. Otherwise, you can manually add any time spent in your project timesheets. Timesheets in Zoho can be turned into invoices to send directly to your clients.

Reporting

Wrike lets you create customizable reports to quickly gather information regarding tasks and projects. It has a Report Builder that will walk you through the entire process of creating a report. Wrike lets you build three types of reports: project reports, task reports, and timelog reports. Reports created in Wrike may be shared with other team members as well as clients.

Create reports in Zoho Projects even without programming skills. With this software, you can turn data into reports by choosing from over 50 ready-to-use reports and charts. Alternatively, you can create your own report from scratch with Zoho Projects’s easy drag-and-drop interface. Reports created in Zoho Projects may be published and embedded into websites, blogs, or intranets. Scheduled reports can be sent to your team regularly. You can also export the reports and even print a hard copy of it with Zoho Projects.

Integrations

Wrike can be integrated with numerous valuable applications. Some of these integrations are for file syncing, website creation and publishing, email and advertising marketing, project management and team communication, and CRM:

  • Dropbox
  • Salesforce
  • Basecamp
  • WordPress
  • Mailchimp

Zoho Projects readily integrates with other Zoho products. However, it also integrates with many third party applications for visual collaboration, team communication, cloud storage, and time tracking:

  • Hubstaff
  • Zapier
  • Jira
  • Basecamp
  • Trello
  • Slack

Which one to choose?

It’s assumed that Wrike and Zoho Projects are great choices for small teams because of their free versions. However, even though Zoho Projects has a free version, it only has a storage of up to 10MB — unuseful for even small teams. So, if you have a small team with five members and want to try a free project management software, Wrike is the better choice.

Zoho Project, on the other hand, can be quite beneficial for medium to large scale businesses that need to monitor the number of hours worked by numerous employees. Zoho Project’s timesheets can be turned into invoices, meaning you can make sure invoices will accurately reflect the actual time spent working.
